The Pillars of Justice Awards Celebration, hosted by the Appleseed Foundation, is an annual event that honors extraordinary individuals who have made significant contributions to advancing justice and equality.

This year’s event will take place on September 12th at the University of the District of Columbia’s Student Center in Washington, D.C.

We are proud to honor three remarkable leaders whose work embodies the spirit of justice and courage:

wade j. henderson

Wade J. Henderson, a revered civil rights leader and strategic advisor, is best known for his impactful tenure as president of The Leadership Conference on Civil and Human Rights. Under his leadership, the organization became a powerful advocate for civil and human rights legislation in the United States.

sherrilyn ifill

Sherrilyn Ifill, former President and Director-Counsel of the NAACP Legal Defense Fund, has been a transformative figure in civil rights, advocating for equity and justice. Her leadership significantly shaped national discussions on racial justice and civil rights, making her a pivotal voice in the fight against systemic inequality.

jamie levitt

Jamie Levitt, a distinguished trial lawyer and co-chair of the Commercial Litigation and Trial Group at Morrison & Foerster, is renowned for her expertise in complex commercial litigation. Beyond her legal practice, Levitt is deeply committed to public service, actively supporting organizations such as New York Lawyers for the Public Interest and the Center for Reproductive Rights.

The Appleseed Network is a nonprofit organization dedicated to building a just society through advocacy, legal reform, and public policy initiatives. By leveraging the expertise of legal professionals and community leaders, Appleseed works tirelessly to address systemic issues and promote social justice across the United States.
